I've never super-seriously considered designing a video game, but I like the idea of it and regularly watch or read tutorials and have casually messed with some of the tools. This probably started with Quake by id Software for me. The modding scene intrigued me and I would play custom maps and mods of various sorts. Then I would get into Adventure Game Studio games. Anyways, this is just a list of some engines and tools used. My interest is more in indie-games and retro-style games than in full blown top of the line, high labor AAA 3d games.
