RPG Tools
Here are some useful tools for your RPGing! Some of these I've created myself, some I've contributed to, and others are links to useful tools made by other folks. I've sorted them by system, alphabetically. Enjoy!
Street Fighter: The Storytelling Game
Street Fighter: The shockingly great RPG by White Wolf from 1994 based on the Capcom video game Street Fighter 2.
- Street Fighter Combat Chart Generator: Originally created by Matt over at SFRPG.com, this tool lets you put in your character's Techniques and Attributes, check your Maneuvers, then it generates a handy list with all of your maneuvers with their stats calculated. I maintain my own copy where I added some maneuvers from the G-File and aim to correct any errors I find. The tool also calculates all prerequiste maneuvers and techniques needed and asks if you'd like to add them in. Very handy!
- Deck 'Em!: This is a utility straight from Matt over at SFRPG.com, and it basically allows you to make a virtual combat card deck. You enter your maneuvers, and you can just reveal the selected maneuver on your phone in a way similar to revealing your combat card in the game (using index cards or whatever you used back in the day). A pretty neat idea. You can even create separate named decks to support multiple characters!
- Street Fighter Fillable Character Sheet: I love this one, also totally by Matt over at SFRPG.com, it is a form-fillable character sheet that generates your sheet looking just like one out of the official RPG books, with the same fonts and everything. You can print out or save it in high quality, or, interestingly, the URL itself contains all of the information in the sheet. Instead of sending a sheet to someone, you could just send them the URL and this tool will kick out an exact copy.
Traveller
As I'm currently playing Mongoose Traveller 2e (2022 edition), the tools I've created are based on that particular version of the the rules. Without some tools, Traveller can involve a lot of manual work, so hopefully you'll find these useful! All of the tools in this section I've coded myself.
- Passenger Calculator: A tool that takes into account all of the factors considered by Mongoose Traveller 2e and generates a list of how many passengers of various classes are seeking passage from where you're at to where you are going.
- Freight Caluculator: A tool that takes into account all of the factors considered by Mongoose Traveller 2e and generates a list of how many freight lots of various sizes are available for shipping from where you're at to where you are going.
- Mail Calculator: A tool that takes into account all of the factors considered by Mongoose Traveller 2e and determines if any mail lots are available for you to ship from where you're at to where you're going, and if so, just how many.
- Trade Code Checker: A pretty simply tool that just takes a Universal Planetary Profile and returns what Trade Codes the planet should have. This can be useful if you've rolled up some planets and just want to make sure you get the trade codes right without having to manually check the tables in the book, hoping you don't miss anything.
- Travel Time Calculator: This incomplete tool takes the distance you would like to travel and calculates the travel time based on the accelleration of your ship. There is also a list of convenient benchmark travel times in a table below that, which includes speed of light times (so communication time can be determined as well). To complete the tool, I would like the utility to return the travel times in a more human readable form (right now it just returns seconds), and I would also like the option to enter distance in Astronomical Units rather than just in Kilomenters as it does now.
