Last Friday we had another session of Traveller and this Friday it'll be coming again. This last session involved our characters departing Jada to start our journey to the Fenner Abyss, and at the first system we came to we faced opposition from people looking to stop us. It was a good session that had some adventure vibes, and ended with us turning back to Jada for now. The session had massive attendance, with 2 players that haven't been part of our regular attendance showing up with new characters. One character rolled up having Ship Shares, and the other created a character that we have aboard for "a friend showed up and so now they are in the party" reasons. As far as the book keeping the game requires, I'm going to see if attendance continues. You can definitely end up in this situation where one-off PCs are assumed to be aboard the ship, and you pay them and pay life support for them, and don't have staterooms to offer for passengers because they are in use by PCs that may or may not show up again. The book keeping aspect continues to be a mixed thing for me. Some people seem to appreciate how it shapes motivations and play, but it is an annoying load to take on and keep track of, and ambiguous maybe there/maybe not characters fuzzy everything up. We'll see what this Friday brings.
Another RPG thing I've been working on this last week is Rising Forces. Rising Forces is my attempt to create an RPG that is kind of like a "Street Fighter: The Storytelling Game 2nd Edition." I'm definitely changing things compared to the original game, but it is very much in the same spirit and keeps the combat core of it. The game has been roughly in its current state for a very long time, but every now and then a little progress is made. The real progress that needs to be made is to get the Special Maneuvers mostly done. At that point it'll be a "complete game" at an alpha level, and can be played. I think playtesting is good not only for the playtesting, but that play keeps you interested in working on the game and pushing forward with it. Anyways, I'm just pointing towards it and saying I've made a bit of progress, but there isn't a ton to say really. I need to keep working, get into the grind of it and go, go, go!
