So, the One-Page RPG Jam 2025 has kicked off! Running from Sunday July 13th through Sunday August 17th, it is a jam/challenge to create an RPG that fits on a single sheet of paper. More details can be found at the link.
I say to myself I'd like to write up some RPGs, so this is the kind of thing I'd like to take a swing at. Before the jam kicked off, I mused on the idea and did up some logos. I have the vaguest of notions as to the rules, but I'd better start working on it! Here is a page of me thinking and working on it. The form factor I'm currently aiming for is something in the style of a pamphlet. The current rules core I'm mulling over is my Excelsior Endeavor style base, where you roll 3d+1bd as a base, modified by skill and difficulty, and somehow with the ability to use more "Boost Dice." I want the Boost Dice and maybe whatever Health/Stamina/Endurance is to act in a kind of gambling way. I want it to have this core risk/reward gambling tension going on, done in a compact way.
The aim is a more compact Boot Hill style thing.
Mecha frames have stats and gear. You can push the mecha at the risk of burning them out. Characters have passion and skills that play into how this happens.
Similar in concept to Boost Mecha, it is more of a Car Wars sort of thing.
A simple RPG at core, but you also have super powers. Those powers grow through stunts. The stunts are risky, but over time can become part of your core abilities.
You're a big time wrestler. You have to push to pull off moves, can get worn down and pinned, but also get a second wind, etc. Work it out!
